Set up lines and started trolling east out of the main Gap in 50 fow at 4:30 this morning, with water flat as a pancake. Should have slept in another hour or two. When you start bright and early out here, you expect a great sunrise view, and mayhem for the first hour or two, but not on this day. With the sun now up, and water still flat, we finally got on some fish at 7:30, and had steady action till quitting time at 11 or so. While the action was good, we only boated 6 fish out of the 18 we had on….Only two of them were rookie mistakes(took the pressure off and let the line go slack)…it was like a huge jinx…unbelievable. All hits/fish came on flasher/fly combos, everywhere from 60 feet down with the SWRs, to 20 feet or so on boards with 3 color lead. Kept going thru our waypoints and getting bit, with a couple doubles in the mix. the ones we boated were cookie cutter 3 to 5 lb. ho’s, plus a 10 lb. chin.
Great way to end the long weekend.

Trip was with my neighbor and one of my daughter’s boyfriend. Was hoping to fish in 3 to 4 foot rollers to see what he was made of ….better luck next time.
You know what they say about all work and no play…time to get out and play, man!
