I’ve been trying to hit the 40 mark for the last couple of hardwater seasons here in the metro and yesterday I got to land one for my buddy that ALMOST did it! Just under 38 inches but she was darn THICC! Beautiful fish and took some massive runs!

This fish was in the NE Metro about ten minutes from St Paul. What are some of your biggest pike in the metro?

Haha, oh this is interesting. In the open water season you curse at them for wrecking or snipping off lures but in the winter you actually seek them out!

Biggest one I got last season in the greater metro area was 34 inches (October). I don’t specifically target them but I obviously catch a lot of them when I’m bass and muskie fishing. We both know they love thunder crickets.

Biggest one ever in the metro? 37 inches.

Anyone new to this? See all the cabins and households? No?
2 things, get away from people to get quality fish And you don’t have to drive hundreds of miles to get away from the crowds, he is 10 min. away from STP-speech over

My biggest is 39 the kid got a 40 and we have hit many 36 37 and 38s all off 2 different lakes. Lots of big pikes to be had around your homestead

There are 40″+ fish to be had on the river if a guy wanted to target them. There is something about sticking a good one on a tip up, though.

Biggest through the ice for me was a few years ago on a south metor lake – it went 37″ but was a toad.

This one took up the entire 8 inch hole. First time I’ve thought to myself maybe I need to get a 10 inch auger….

The short fat ones with the big shovel heads are the best. Run with that line how you see fit…..

@Mr.Beads nothing better than a big river pike slack lining you and then turning into the current!
