Looking for decent pike lake on lower half of metro to tip-up fish with good numbers in upper 20’s range, for eating. Work up there occasionally, sometimes with a little time to kill.

Coon Rapids Dam, fish the little bay above the dam just stay away from the narrow channel and away from the dam the little bay below the dam is great for walleye and crappie

Good luck with all that. “Great” is a strong word, and yeah the dam will put out some occasional good fish, but its far and few in between. Plenty of good lakes in the metro with MUCH better shots at northerns. Most slimers in that size range he seeks are pretty skinny in the river anyways.

Tonka is a good bet, plenty of shallow, weedy areas to setup tipups without having to walk too far out.
