For those fishing in the metro… How are the ice conditions out there? More so looking at northeast corner areas? Just got back from vacation and have not been out yet to see what its like and I heard we had some warm weather the last couple weeks!
How many inches do we have?
Are people driving out anywhere? (seems really early for that)
Any info will be greatly appreciated, hoping to get out this weekend sometime
i live in the west metro so i cannot say about your area but most lakes around me that had a good amount of ice (6-9 inches) seemed to maintain that alright. definately not driving out in my area though i know people had been driving on buffalo before the warm front hit, dont know about now. always call your local bait shop to be sure but i think the ice that was walkable has remained steady. any lakes, like tonka’s bigger bays, that were working toward building good ice have surely taken a step back.
White Bear had 10-11 inches straight out from Bellaire Beach today.
Second hand but from someone I trust here at work. There’s a lot of variability out there right now. He was talking about a friend on White Bear that showed that 11 inches but 30 yards away found 2-3.
I’m headed out tomorrow but more on the west side. Medicine or Minnetonka most likely for me.

The catching sucked.
I fish NE metro when I stay close, haven’t seen less than 6 or more than 10. Fishing has been real hit and miss

As I was leaving there were some guys with a truck and a house on a trailer who asked me about the ice thickness. I reported what I knew and they sounded like they were sort of into driving out but then seemingly decided not to.
I’ll wait until there is 15 inches out there before driving out.
Fished chisago lakes area the last couple nights. Anywhere from 6-10″.
I was out in the north metro yesterday had 9-10″ where I drilled. There was one blazer out there.
