Mercury year id.

I recently bought a 1988 Lowe 180 pontoon with a 75 hp mercury. The boats only rated for a 50. So I’m thinking I’m in the market for a different motor. I’d like to get rid of this one but can’t really seem to find anything about the year by the serial number. Anyone else know of a way? The serial number is 0a994723. Any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. P.s. I’m super excited about pan fishing off this thing

first,on mercury outboards the O is non relevant for a serial number search.
drop the O and use the remaining numbers to find it.
I looked for you and if that number is correct,it shows to be a 1987 80hp

if you would,double check the numbers and I will give it another shot for you to pin it down.
if the number is right then I would believe someone put the wrong label on it??
as in wrong hood with the 75 hp rating.
