Mercury Optimax issue – low voltage alarm sounding when engine is off???

    I think there’s 3 sensors on that motor. If you disconnect one at a time it will narrow it down to one… although there is a possibility of a worn wire grounding out and setting off the alarm.

    If you aren’t good at trouble shooting or are uncomfortable with it, I would suggest a certified mechanic look at it.

    Thanks, will try that.

    Must be or surely could be a bad ignition /key switch since there, I would think, should be ZERO voltage to the engine with the key shut off–right?? If need be, I have a Merc tech that you could call and get an honest answer to the potential issue that could cause this. Let me know….
