2001 mercury optimax 225 out board, i replaced electric motor! it worked for five min going up and down then when i cheked fluid to make sure it was full the motor works but it is not moving . i pulled back offf to make sure the spacer was in place and was . the motor was all the way up i had to remove bottom screw to get motor back down so i could get the housing back on. i can put motoer on jump box and change direction of motor but notta. i can move the motor all around thinking an air block but i thought that would move the air block if there was one. even removed plunger from port side only lost fluid . did not help.

so you replaced the motor and everything was working fine. then you checked the fluid and the system quit working. seems like something is missing here.

sounds like a relay, solenoid, or switch cant handle the torque load of the new motor,if that doesnt make sense, look at it this way.
the pump is building higher pressure faster thus requiring more amps and volts and failing prematurely.

swap the relays and try again,if I had to guess some more, debris is blocking one direction, was the entire unit flushed before replacement??
I apologize in advance it that doesnt help.

if I knew where you are from,I could find someone close that could help.
