I got this motor last summer that was not running and fixed it up and used it duck hunting a handful of times last fall. Ended up getting a 9.5 Johnson a month back so don’t really have a need for this motor any more. Not really sure what it is worth since I don’t see many of them on facebook marketplace or craigslist. I replaced all the fuel lines, new fuel pump diaphragm, new plugs, new water pump, cleaned carb, new lower unit oil, and replaced some old electrical cables. Cosmetically it is in good shape on the outside and its a really cool looking little motor. If any one has any idea what I should be asking for this I would appreciate your feedback!

I can vouch for David’s small engine work. He helped me big time with a Honda mower that wouldn’t start! Great looking vintage outboard.

$200 at least if it runs good.

There’s one on craigs list 1970 7.5 asking $450. Been on a long time. It’s kind of in between. Someone looking for an everyday motor, may want newer. Not quite a true antique. Although those vintage Mercs with the chrome trim do have class. And have repurpose uses as decor items. May be worth more that way if the chromes nice. Not rare by any means. Think $200 or $300 I’d let it go.

Pick up a 12 or 14′ boat without a motor and put this baby on it and sell it as a package deal. The way boats are selling today adding that motor to the boat price you could make $800. Just a thought outside the box.

Thanks for the kind words Gregg. Appreciate the feedback guys. Just wanted to check if it was rare or not, but sounds like its nothing to unique. For now I will probably just try and sell the motor alone and see how that goes. If anyone is interested PM me and I will set the price at $300 for now. I will probably end up posting it on Craigslist/FB Marketplace as well to get more eyes on it.
