2006. I pulled my pontoon last weekend then changed the oil today and the oil filter was basically dry inside. It has ran perfect all summer with no issues. I’m going to turn it over tomorrow and see if any oil pumps into the filter. Ring a bell with anyone? Pretty sure there would be some residual oil in there even after sitting and draining for a week? I remember it coming out of there in the past when I pulled the filter.

My f150 has no oil in the filter when I change it IF it has not been run for 48 hours.

The oil filters lay horizontal on them and drain over time, no biggie as it is normal, remember, they will drain back to the pan very easily when the oil is warm.
They drain even quicker if the filter is on end.

I know my 40hp efi 4 stroke has an oil pressure sensor and the alarm will sound and it will not go much over idle if there isn’t enough oil pressure

They make filters that are anti-drain back, I normally try and use those when I have filters that are mounted horizontally.
