    Hello Gang:

Going to be heading over to Menomonie to fish the 4th through the 6th to start the New Year… Anybody give a brief report??? Guessing ice is out of the question, even if driving north a bit to sneak out onto lakes 30 to 45 miles north of there??? Thank You In Advance!!!

Ice or not, I personally wouldn’t waste my time with Menomin or Tainter (just North of there).

The water quality has really tanked for those 2 bodies of water in the last 20 years or so to the point that it’s impacted fish populations. The blooms they get from June – early September are crazy.

Many years ago we’d catch some decent crappies on Menomin, but that was about it.

Heading North from that area I probably wouldn’t slow for anything within an hour personally.

Thanks Bucky!!! We’re old Stout students who wanted to do something back in the old area to celebrate a b-day. Several of us worked at Jakes, so we’re staying on Tainter… I’m actually thinking about bringing my trout stuff and fishing the streams if they’ve opened up. We spent almost 4 years there, so finding areas to play aren’t so difficult and my wife and I leave for FL after being there, so open water equipment is certainly a possibility and a lot of cards at the VRBO.

We also used to sneak up towards Amery and Turtle Lake and have WIFA associates in the area…
