Pete Yake and I did a little shake down run with his 2005 Crestliner today on the menominee river just upstream of Niagara
Wisc.
Although the air temp reached the 60s today the surface water temp was only 35 below the Hydraulics dam.
There were three other boats fishing. We tried a variety of plastics, jigs and blade baits. The few small males caught were on live bait in 20-25′ of water. The reservior above the dam is frozen solid and keeping the water temps and spawning run postponed until warmer weather, especially warm rain…The clarity was almost 2 feet, that will change with run off eventually.
CAUTION…THERE ARE LARGE SHEETS OF ICE IN THE RIVER NOW…THEY CAN CAUSE CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO YOUR BOAT AND/OR YOU!!!
