Ben got a new pole from Grampa for his birthday on Saturday, so he was eager to get out Sunday and put it to use. Before I was able to get set up myself, he had this perch on the ice…next fish was a 17″ walleye. Nice surprise on a #14 Diamond Jig and 2 lb test, and great start to say the least.
We kept our self imposed dozen limit between about 9-10 1/2″ , but easily caught 40 perch in a few hours.

Way to go Stretch! nice fish, and a bonus eye as well.
Menomin has been known over the years to put out some huge perch-nobody really targets them with regularity, esp. summer. A few locals do very well, but keep tight lipped.
