Well if you locals enjoy fishing large gills the bite on menomion is great .We were out this week and had great luck fishing the rapids just below the cedar falls dam on boat landing road. The bite is fast and it wont take long to bag a limit with just using small worms or crawlers in 3 to 4 fow..here are a few pics and good luck

    Clark,
Your picture is now forcing me to take the rest of the day off to go after gillers! Great job, I can not wait to get out there. Looks like I’ll be mowing the lawn in 6th gear so I can maximize my fishing time!

Stevie and I will be out there this afternoon, just got the game plan situated–last patient is at 10 bells.

Dean, your always welcome–just don’t copy down my waypoints, as Syd added about 50 extras that I now consider as decoys. If you copy them, I’ll have to get permission from Syd to give you the secret code.

I was out yesterday and couldnt get the gills to go, but I was fishing in deeper water that 3-4. I did hit MANY northerns and bass with several bonus eye’s. Where are you guys getting these gills now?

Good tactic this time of year is to drift with two rods around upper Asylum. Just use a split shot and sinker and hang the rigs off both sides of the front your boat while gently running your bowmount–much like the way guys fish crappies down south. Many fish tend to scatter over that upper end. If you hit a good pod, anchor up and slip bobber them.

Don, I jumped 8 birds working my dog over by Gilbert Creek.
Sorry I have to miss your day, will be in Green Bay on the 9th.

Big bay on the NE side of the lake. Basically, the whole big area on the NE side of the lake is referred to as Asylum.

Ok… Tried up there for gills again tonight. Nothing, what am I doing wrong? I was in about 4fow and using a 1/32oz jig with a little chunk of crawler. Anyone have any specific spots they wouldn’t mind sharing? Just looking for a few gills. I ended up doing my usual trolling tonight on the south/east side of the lake. Few northerns, bass, a walleye, and a nice 11″ crappie. Would really like to try some gills out, any help would be awesome! Thanks, Pete

Just got in, hit the water at around 530 or so. The lot was pretty full already because of the bass tournament going on this morning. Still had no luck on the gills but got a 21″ eye while trolling My camera batt was dead tho

I tried for gills just off the sunken island outside of Wakanda in about 4-5fow, with no luck.
