I go to UW-Stout and am interested in bringing up my boat for the fall semester, especially if Lake Menomin has good bass fishing. Not looking for specific spots or patterns just was curious to whether or not this lake has a good population of bass and generally where they’re positioned (deep/shallow/weeds/rock/wood, etc.)

Its good for both largemouth and smallies. I don’t target bass that often but early fall, good fishing can be had close to the weedbeds. As the water cools the fish drop deep and jigging is a good option. The good thing is most of the weeds and alot of the shoreline is close to deep water. You can cover various depths very quickly.

I pull Smallies out of the river just below the dam there left and right, they will hit just about anything

Where do you typically launch your boat?

I prefer the point comfort landing, 21st ST over by the hospital. The landing off of Wolske bay road (by the library) is good also.

A couple of other local lakes may interest you for a little bass action would be Eau Galle and Lake George over at Spring Valley. That one is trolling motor only.
