I hit Menomin on Saturday morning for a couple hours in the morning. The chatter on the ice was how the bite had slowed down in general and how finicky the panfish were behaving. I marked fish all morning and had a low mark to bite ratio. I was trying a lot of different presentations without finding anything that worked well. I ended up with a couple crappies and these bluegills. I have been pleased with the size on the bluegills on Menomin.

We really didn’t lose much ice over the week and the ice that was left was in great shape.

Those Menomin panfish are relly something else. My early summer trips down there always seem to produce the biggest gills of the year for me.

Next time I see you, I’ll have to give you an infant spoon…it’ll make those beautiful 10″ gills look like dinner plates!

Getting a few crappies with those gills, you probably did better than most anglers. With the cooler nights we will be able to venture out on the main lake. Give me a shout when you want to hit it.

Yep those are some dandy size gills. I think I was out getting some lessons on jigging for saugers from Don on the 16th. Yep I’m about ready to find some big perch.
