Sitting here watching the Sosa McGwire homerun race in 1998 on ESPN. Brings back memories of that season. Every night you checked Sports Center for the results.

    Good times.

And now 22 years later baseball is nailing shut their own coffin, maybe for good

Major league baseball has had decreasing ratings each year for over a decade. The percentage of stadiums that are only a fraction full during games is astonishing.

I’d love to see a homerun race and steroids back in baseball.

For baseball purists it was a tough time. For the occasional fan it was the best of times.

I’m a baseball purist and I thought it was incredible. Still do, even with the steroids. MLB hasn’t had anything that entertaining since.

I’m old enough to remember the 2019 Twins, remember that summer of home runs!

You mean the MLB HR team record setting 2019 twins. I am getting old enough now that I am starting to forget…I was really looking forward to watching Donaldson at third.

My son and I watched it. I lived through it, he was 4 years old. He became a good baseball player, D II, so he really enjoyed it.

Nothing beats sitting in target field on a nice sunny day with some good friends, cold beer, and watching baseball!

Baseball may have lost some fans over the years but it’s still very enjoyable to watch. I’m a little disappointed in the players for not wanting to play this year regardless of their excuse…we could all use it!

We did the rooftop thing for a Cards Cubs game that year. McGuire was getting walked and for whatever reason they finally pitched to him and he absolutely crushed one out of the park. Without a doubt one of the best games I’ve ever been to.

Still one of my favorite sports. You’d think it would’ve been the first sport to come back and open up. It appears to be the first youth sport sort of opening up. It sure was fun when those two were going back and forth
