Memorial Day reading

I found this reading this morning on the Old Guard and preparations for Memorial Day at Arlington Cemetery. I found it interesting and thought that I would share it.

Interesting reading. The head resident in my college dorm served as the CO of the the 3rd Infantry Regiment in the early 2000s. He was the on-scene commander at the Pentagon on 9/11. I learned an enormous amount about the soldiers assigned to the Regiment. They are combat soldiers before they are ceremonial participants. As described in the article, they arrived at the Pentagon immediately on 09/11 in battle dress, not dress blues. All of the duties they perform are executed with pride, honor and profresionalism.
