Wondering if there was a favorite Christmas gift you remember getting as a kid or even as an adult? For me it was this slot track with trucks instead of race cars. Had race car tracks too but this was different and way cool!

Someday, for no good reason, I’m going to buy one of these, as I got from my parents at 6-7 years old.

December 24, 2021 at 7:24 pm #2084258Oh man I had that. That thing was sweet.
It was so cool! We had a sheet of osb to set it up on and just slide it under my bed when done with it. I still have parts of it. Pieces for it are pretty spendy for it on ebay otherwise I would try and put a set back together.
December 24, 2021 at 8:07 pm #2084264Back in 1976 I was in fifth grade. I got a brand new Rupp sport for Christmas.

I got the whipping because I took the engine apart to see how it made the smoke, and yes, I put it back together and it still worked.

I’m sure she would make sure you didn’t either.

I had one of these too even though we were a John Deere farm.
December 25, 2021 at 11:57 am #2084388Back in 1966 or 67. Mattel M16 Marauder Machine Gun. Rack the slide 4-5 times to wind the spring. Could pull the trigger once to single fire or hold it down for full auto. That thing was sweet!!
Brad DimondPosts: 1450December 25, 2021 at 7:12 pm #2084421I got the best gift of my life this year. My son’s fiance asked me to officiate their wedding next June. I don’t tear up often but did when she asked.

steelslinger71Posts: 167December 26, 2021 at 2:25 pm #20844981969 got a Remington 1100 12 gauge automatic for a Christmas/birthday present. 2.75” plain barrel. Was a game changer from the double barrel Stevens I had been using as a teenager.
December 26, 2021 at 4:20 pm #2084515I remember getting a new erector set when I was about 10. Hooked up the transformer from my O Size train engine to run the electric crane on the erector set. Figured being able to adjust the speed would be cool in so many ways. Quite the meltdown…… Thank god I had put the transformer on a board in the living room and the erector motor was bolted up high.
oh well, pretty cool at the time and pretty funny thinking about nowSnake ii’sPosts: 515December 27, 2021 at 5:59 am #2084606Batman car from 1968 and Hot wheels and Johnny Lightning cars – late 60’s and 70’s. Still have a Johnny lightning that was in my X-mas stocking ~ 1969 and the Batman car my parents gave me in 1968. I will have to find them and post a pic.
Red EyePosts: 943December 27, 2021 at 9:44 am #2084646Christmas ‘92 I was 11. Parents gave me a Remington 870 12ga 3” Wingmaster. Mostly just a gopher getter now but still one of my most prized possessions. And in 2 yrs it will be passed to my boy for his first shotgun.

A train set
Voltron
Original NES
10-pump pellet gunDecember 27, 2021 at 12:53 pm #2084672Only presents I ever remember getting was a catchers mitt, and a puppy. Still have the catchers mitt, but the memories of the puppy will never fade.
December 27, 2021 at 2:14 pm #2084686In 1985, I got a Remington 742 in .30-06. I believe it was a mid 1960s model, hardly used. My dad got it from a local guy.
I was totally shocked because I hadn’t asked for it and never saw it coming. I believe at that point I had been hunting deer three or four seasons and using a variety of borrowed rifles of dubious pedigree. I certainly would never have asked for a gift that expensive.
I made good use of that rifle. My father was very insistent that you never, ever, let a deer walk away from you after you shot at it. You shoot until it falls over or until you run out of ammo. No exceptions.
Well I took that advice to a whole new level with my own autoloader. Back in the days when we used to drive deer I think there were numerous occasions when I had two or three empty casings flying in the air at the same time.
