Sounds like surgery tomorrow to clean the wound out. I think I’m becoming anemic from all the blood draws. Lol

Tom how did your calf get infected? Cut, scratch, insect bite?
A deep abrasion from stepping thru some bad cedar decking. Did the er thing but got very little treatment. I thought things were healing pretty well, scabbed over nice swelling gone no pain and then Saturday I showered and that scab come off. It started to swell and was draining. By the time I got home Monday from Mayo I was beat and slept most of the rest of the day. Tuesday I was still bushed and slept more but this morning it was apparent something had been festering in that wound and under the scab. They think that exposure to air set the infection into high gear and here I am.

I’m in the other hospital Denny. Just saw the surgeon and am waiting to be taken to the er. Surgery is supposed to take maybe an hour. I’ve had enough already.
Out of surgery. The surgeon says all went well and lots of dead material was removed. One of the down sides of xeralto. Maybe home tomorrow. Maybe. Now to heal.

I was on a pump to pull crud from the surgical wound yesterday afternoon until this morning. They pulled the pump and the IVs then sent me home with appts for next week. This has been an experience. Hopefully the recovery/healing process goes smooth. I’ve had enough of surgery and hospitals for while now. A long while.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from you Tom. Sure hope things are going well. Hope the best for you in the healing process.!!!

I’m at the cabin. Healing is going good and had to get Carole trained in as a dressing nurse to keep the healing headed in the right direction. Been getting some mowing done along with some fishing between bouts of rain. We planned for 8 days here but in part it has rained 6 of the first 7 days and home tomorrow.
Getting away from the lake has been key to some amazing colors in the woods. Other than birds and chipmunks we hadn’t had much wildlife until 1 this morning when I finally caught a bear at the sunflower seed box. Big bruiser…guessing 400+ pounds. He didn’t like the yard light a bit.
Fishing has been more a tackle washing episode than actual angling. The wind has kept a lot of fishing at bay this trip but the catching has been slow anyway so Ma and I find other things to do and places to go check out.
