Mega 360 & Mega si/down imaging on same unit?

Here is what I want to do. I am getting a new 1890BT and I want to put a MK Ulterra w/60″ shaft and the MSI transducer up front. I will be mounting an HB Helix 10 G4N Mega SI on the console in the back and tie into the TM in the front to run it all from the back. I also want to put an HB Mega 360 Transducer w/Universal mount off the side of the boat, probably mount in a track, and run off the same Helix 10. How do I do that?

Sounds like a sweet set up! Haven’t seen how SI works on trolling motor, but why wouldn’t you mount 360 on trolling motor?

I would love to, but there is not a mount available for the Ulterra. I want to be able to have SI both front and back. As well as using the HB 360 when needed. I have been a Lowrance guy forever, and i happen to have an HDS12 Live that I am going to put on the back with 2n1 Active Imagining, and a 2d/Chirp Transducer glassed in the hull.
I believe there is a splitter available for the units, just not sure, I am still doing research on my own.
    thanks

The Helix won’t allow for M360 and Mega SI at the same time. Your M360 is your SI.

I realize that I won’t be able to use the 2 at the same time. I just want to be able to use the MSI transducer while looking for fish then spot lock and use the Mega 360 to pinpoint and track a school of fish while spot locked. Looking for something similar to the Dual Side Image Transducer Adapter cable, and maybe that is what I need? I was hoping one you Hummingbird Guru’s would know right off the bat and save me some time researching this.
    Thanks

You will need the ethernet box, one ethernet cable and adapter for the Helix ( dont know the numbers off the top of my head ). Your SI cable from the transducer will hook directly to your Helix unit, your Ulterra will hook to the Ethernet box with the supplied cable, the Helix will connect to the Ethernet box via cable. The Ulterra is a Ethernet accessary is why it can be hooked to the Ethernet box, any unit that is hooked to the box can utilize the Ulterras out put.

If you would hook the Ulterra directly to your Helix there is no way you can run a separate transducer to your Helix unit the reason for the Ethernet box.

    Tom,
Thanks a lot. So would I then plug the MEGA 360 transducer into the ethernet box also?
    Thanks

Sorry I missed the part of Mega 360 you will need another Helix CHO
DI Gen 3 or better unit to run Mega 360 and that unit can be hooked into the Ethernet to share to any other unit. The Mega 360 will make the DI unit SI.
With Humminbird any transducer has to be hooked to a unit to process the information before sending it out across the Ethernet.

Well darn it, I was afraid of that. Ok, back to the drawing board.

Phil, how do you plan to fish? How are you wanting to use this set-up? Seems like you are mostly planning to troll? Or, are you planning to find them slow trolling and then cast? Some add’l info might help us to suggest possible solutions to consider.

Right now I mostly troll, and I am very good at it. But, I really miss catching them with a rod in my hand, and I am changing up my game. Yes, I want to be able to find them with the side imaging, then use the 360 to help me dissect the pc of structure. I am also putting an HDS 12 Live on the back as well(I already have this unit). That unit will also have down & side imaging as well. I have mostly been a Walleye guy, and I am changing that as well. I used to be a multi-species guy. I am going back to fishing for Musky, Bass, Walleye, and some panfish as well. Sorry if I got long winded.
    Thanks

If the plan is to cast more, the M360 is far better utilized on the bow vs. on the side of the boat. M360 is also far superior to SI at the bow. However, the M360 transducer is too heavy for the Ulterra. The Ultrex can handle the weight and has mounting options. If you really want to troll with the M360 and not the SI at the console, you still have the option to drop the TM and use the gas engine to propel the boat while watching the M360 sonar while at the bow. I do it all the time. Use the TM to steer or have your partner steer from the console while you watch the bow sonar. SI at the console and M360 at the bow is a pretty solid set-up. Add Livescope if you want to up the game to the max. Just some things to consider…

    Brian,
Using an Ultrex is not in my plan. I am building a tiller boat, I want to be able to use everything from the back of the boat. Maybe I will either have to put a 3rd unit at the back, 1 up front and the network the whole thing together. We shall see, but man new boats are a blast figuring out all of the little things.

I just found what I was looking for! To do what I want to do, I will need to have part #720108-1 HB 14 M360 2DDI Y and a part #720106-1 AD HELIX M360. This will allow me to use both my transducer off of the Ulterra and hook up a separate M360 Transducer. I will report next spring how it is all working once I get the boat and everything hooked up. Stay tuned I will probably have more things to bounce off of you.
