Just learned that during the Covid pandemic shut down in Thailand, ALL ALCOHOL was banned in an effort to discourage parties and groups. This included alcohol for personal consumption.

Can you imagine if that happened here in the US? People have their panties in a bunch over masks mandates. Im sure this would start a civil war

Since they tried prohibition and it failed, they learned how to tax liquor. Now you couldn’t get prohibition to even be considered. Follow the money.

Haha. I believe way back when this first started and some in person retailers were forced to go online or curbside only, liquor stores were considered essential and thus they continued to stay open. People would get desperate when beer and booze is on the line lol

Heck I think some liquor stores deliver now don’t they?

South Africa tried to ban smoking. The black market exploded.

And most likely overwhelm the hospitals.

If they stopped the sale here I feel I could survive several years. I am well stocked. However my friends would no longer be welcome at my house however. jester

And 2-3 hours after liberating the first liquor stores your army wouldn’t be much to fight lol.

People would be shocked how many people they know that would go into withdrawal. Which would overload hospitals further.

Plenty of raging alcoholics around here along with functioning alcoholics. That was why liquor stores were essential in the lock downs. Too many people would get the DT’s. I read that 1 out of every 7 drivers in MN has a DWI. I hope that number is flawed a bit, due to number of DWI’s to drivers and not allowing for multiple DWI’s by individuals being counted. Either way too many drunks on the road.

Just think how the black market for marijuana would explode if it were made illegal across the board…

It would be terrible. The government would be so mad if they couldn’t grab there share off it.
Oh wait. Legalized weed is the enemy. Then the enemy might be fetanly. Can’t be that when they push oppiods with no discipline.

Interesting, many recovering alcoholics went off to WW2 and were able to stay sober. For those who really wanted a drink , I’m sure no law would prevent them from getting it .I new an old timer who would drink alcohol from a Model A radiator . Another drank a quart of motor oil , on the promise of a bottle of booze . Or the guy who vomited on the floor at home ,the bars and liquor stores were closed . So he licked up his own puke get get what alcohol was in it . Yup im sure some would loose there minds if they could not get a drink .

Found out a guy I worked with drank a bottle of mouth wash first things in the morning to get his buzz. Very sad when you think about it.

I worked with several guys who ended up drinking themselves to death , a rotten way to go .

It is a little flawed. My “not a drop” that I got when I was 16 counted as a DWI even though I only blew .03. I passed all the other test with ease. I was pulled over for making an illegal u turn when I was leaving the party. First thing the cop said when I opened my window was “What drugs did you just buy?”
