Should have been fired years ago. Packers have higher standards than the vikings, so it’s hard for the queen fans to comprehend high expectations.
Just another imploding season for the vikes as per usual.. losers!

McCarthy needed to go, but he also coached the team to a Superbowl and the playoffs 9 of 12 seasons. They owed it to him to let him finish the season.
Outside of Rodgers the team is so lacking on talent compared to 90% of the league. They have guys starting on both sides of the ball that have a ceiling of being a special teams player on average or above teams. McCarthy may have needed to go, but you can’t win the Kentucky Derby with a mule either.Reply
I agree with you, but I think the “at least they still have Rodgers” is going to turn into a case of bad timing for the Pack. Rodgers is 35 and will be 36 before the end of next season.
So short of a new coach pulling a total U-turn in 1 season, does Rodgers have enough time left in the league (even assuming no injuries) to see a recovery in all the places where GB needs to improve? Hmmmm…
Sure, maybe Rodgers plays until he’s 42 at the same high level. Anything could happen, look at all the Patriot Haters out there who have been predicting Brady’s demise and retirement for, oh, about 10 years now. However… playing the averages, I’d say time is not on the Packers side as they restock the team, the scenario could easily be Packers on the way up just in time for Rodgers to be on the way out.
McCarthy will be on the phone right now talking to GMs about next season. He won’t be unemployed for a season is my estimate.

McCarthy refusing to make Aaron Jones the feature back was enough to question him in my mind. He is very clearly their best running back, but he kept giving the ball to Jamal Williams and other dud players. That and a number of other dumb play calling and game managment decisions. The cherry on top would be if Aaron Rodgers himself thought it was time… it was time.
I hope the Packers crumble…. but I doubt it.

A vikings fan with logic, knowledge, and no jokes about “Erin” Rodgers and how his ego causes more problems than his worth (lol)? Never thought I’d see the day! Much respect to you good sir!
MCCARTHY had many good to great years but past performance doesn’t pay today’s bills. The quality of personel has been declining for a few years now causing the downward spiral of the Packers. Whenever a new face shows up on the field it is more likely someone brought from the practice squad than a top draft player or top free agent. The Bears and Vikes have loaded up with top players and are leading the division as a result. Are the Packers suffering from paying Rogers too much? Is the salary cap keeping them from bringing in top players? If that is the case how will a new coach make a difference? Hope they bring in a young coach who knows what it takes to be competitive today and not someone stuck in the past.

Management is going to have to make a decision, and it won’t be easy.
Do they go for a true tear-down and revamp a large percentage of the roster through the draft and letting young guys get experience with the guidance of a new young coach? This would require dumping fan favorites like Cobb, Clay Matthews, Bulaga, etc. This option is going to take multiple seasons and likely compromises a large chunk of what Rodgers has left. You’d also likely have an even more disgruntled superstar.
OR
Do they throw around their draft capital (x2 first rounders with one likely in the top 10) to either move up for some marquee pieces, or package picks for a pro-bowl piece from another team while making a substantial splash in free agency? This would be the bigger risk and would definitely require bringing in some type of coach who has extensive experience in the NFL that Rodgers agrees to (not an easy find). This could easily result in double digit wins and a playoff run. If this strategy still doesn’t produce a playoff run, it could compromise more of the future and just delay an inevitable rebuild while driving them to salary cap hell.
If I’m at the helm, I’m giving the second option a “go” for this upcoming season. Approach veterans like Cobb and Matthews about friendly contracts or let them walk. Mortgage the future and take another swing with Rodgers and high risk/cost free agent acquisitions. I’d rather lose or “fail” while throwing all the cards on the table. It’s not my millions or career that are being risked
The Packers never tried to build the defense that wins championships and hoped that Rodgers could always pull a rabbit out of his hat. Now the offense is as bad as the defense.
Rogers seemed a bit sluggish in Sunday’s game. I have had the idea that Rogers hasn’t been 100% for most of the season….he’s just looked “off”. Mathews hasn’t seemed as effective either. So is it the team players or the coaching? As much as I have disliked McCarthy I think dumping him with 4 games to go was tacky. He should have been allowed to finish the season and then talked to about his future.
I doubt if the woes the Packers have seen this year are all McCarthy though and if he’s getting ripped then the top tier players in the organization need to get a little warm up too. Remember, they’re the ones on the field, all with an expectation of performance.
agreed. losing at home against arguably the worst team in the NFL was too much to stand for. it was a good run.
Best title for a story covering it: “Constantly Protesting Berkeley Student Finally Gets Long-Awaited Revenge On McCarthyism”.
Doesn’t really matter to me… but my lowly non SB winning Vikings owned your worthless team this year…. go ahead, blame McCarthy for that… geez your team sucks. Lick your wounds….

But it did matter enough for you to post, so you got that going for you
McCarthys firing doesn’t matter…. tying and beating the cheese (not losing) is what does matter to me. We own your lousy team.
Atta boy, set your sights high
You can always tell a Viking fan, you just can’t tell him much!
the current train wreck isn’t Mike’s fault, but it is where blame should be applied. I think the new management is going to be a bit more aggressive than what we have become accustomed to. Hopefully we see some free agents come in to fill some talent holes. Heck we’ve already seen more mid season trades than we have in the past. It does look like they are trying to get depth through the draft (been working toward that all season) and what better time to get a new head coach to bring back some jazz and get the rookies the chance to learn his new coaching style. I still think that the queenies are going all the way this year.
See, 2 posts by me and the woodwork is squeezing them out !!! Better shot at the SB than the Cheese this year !
Yep im glad he’s gone. His offense was laughable and the defense has been pretty bad also. And for all the Viking fans relishing in the packers losing at home to the cardinals didn’t ur number 1 defense lose to the bills at home 27 to 6?

No
I’m a Vikings fan, but it does seem like vikes fans(or at least some of the ones on here) seem to squawk the loudest. And for WHAT? We honestly are pretty average, AT BEST, this year. And don’t even get me started on our overly orchestrated TD celebrations when we are BEHIND
I haven’t “squawked all season”.. until I see cheeseheads calling me a queen fan. Plenty of squawking going on and now your in on it too.

No kidding. I wouldn’t mind seeing the NFL just outlaw these idiot in the end zone acting like they have crabs.
Knee-jerk, bush league move from an organization that almost never operates like that. I don’t understand it.
I don’t think it was McCarthy’s fault, but the Pack could have at least waited until the end of the season, or at the very least the following day.
Another team is going to get an early Christmas present.

I’m not sure about that. The only google search that has zero results over the last 51 years is “Vikings superbowl victories”
Not looking good in Cheeseland.
WOW! What a dumpster fire in GB, shows who’s running the show. Poor #12 can’t take any criticism, or you will be shown the door.
Cant read article because the star tribune is frozen in time. I’ve read too many articles “for free”.
Winston Moss’s tweet:
Ponder this… what Championship teams have are great leadership! Period! It’s not the offensive guru trend, it’s not the safe trend. Find somebody that is going to hold #12 and everybody in this building to a #LombardiStandard! Period! #losingsucks!
