Gobs of them to be found on Ebay including colors that were, to my knowledge, never made available here in the states.

Correct me if I am wrong, but they look identical to the #11 shadow rap shallow in profile…
I’ve seen them on clearance at the Gander Mt store in Baxter, still for $12 or something like that. I’ve contemplated on buying one, but my cheap arse has trouble doughing out that much for a lure. What’s the advantage of them that quantifies the price?

BBs inside lure allow for a weight redistribution that allows it to be “maxed” when casted out. Gives considerable more distance on casts. Bought a couple when they were on clearance at Cabelas or Fleet.

The Max Rap is thinner in profile than the Shad Rap. Similar… but definitely a different body.
So how are they for fishing?
The Max Rap is a fantastic early season jerkbait. They don’t dive very deep, 2′ – 4′ on a cast, which makes them fantastic for working over the top of emerging weed growth. Walleye, smallies and pike love them. They cast a country mile and they’re indestructible.
This is the picture I was referring to – shallow shadow rap on the left. Only going by a picture
NHamm – Shadow Raps have the internal weight transfer system as well.
Disclaimer: Just because it is on the internet does NOT make it true

They are a Great Replacement bait for the Husky Jerk when the weeds are still high in the fall.
Joel where do you see the shadow rap had the weight transfer system? Disclaimer myself Ive just used the deep version but cant remember what the box said. Found it didn’t cast nearly as well as Max, but wasn’t comparing the two at the time either.
Ive found the deep shadow has a real nice wide slow roll when trolled. Max compares more to a husky as stated IMO.
Here’s an oldie but a goodie

In the years since I find myself not using them very much. Still one I use in June up at Rainy but not much else. Have caught a few dandies on it over the years though, just not a consistent producer.
In-Fisherman did a write up on it I believe. Further research tells me that is incorrect… Regardless – I love the Shadow Raps and if the Max Raps are anything close, they will put lots of fish on the boat.
Only lure in my box I won’t share, mostly because the deals I got mine at are nowhere to be found anymore. My favorite shallow water stick.

Jeff,
Give Tim a call up at Sportsmens Service in International Falls. Last time I was in there they still had some hanging on an end cap.
