Hook to shore power with weatherproof connections.

Have two bilge pumps, on separate circuits.

Buy REAL boat fenders, not cute little ones that everyone has.

Learn how to tie off a boat with spring-lines and breasts. Learn a proper cleat hitch, figure eight and bowline.

Buy REAL rope. 3/8″ poly or cotton isn’t going to cut it. Get yourself some Samson double poly braid in 1/2″+

There’s no such thing as tying off a boat too well or too tight.

If you’re in a covered LIFT, you only have to worry about bird poop and tornados. Bird spikes and insurance will cover you there lol

If applicable, get to know the people on either side of you and swap contact information. A couple extra sets of eyes never hurts.

The tritoon next to us last summer used those bungie rope deals that are for “easy” tying and ultimately none lasted the whole season in the sun and with the tension.

I spend a good 45 minutes setting up my docking lines of proper size and length when it is first put in, and after that as long as the patterned order of tie up/release is done…it’d take a big disaster to lose the boat. I’d say tying it up takes ~45 seconds, and setting it free maybe ~30 with everything done correctly
