    Morning,

Just purchased a Showdown. Going to read through the manual today, and possibly use it Mon/Tues.

Could you share any tips, and settings (like sensitivity) that have worked for you ?

Lastly, just confirming the transducer placement. Should it be a few inches in the water (per manual), or down at edge of hole?

    Thank you for the help…

I keep my screen heater on all the time when I’m on the ice. If I’m fishing myself I don’t use the noise rejection. With smaller jigs my sensitivity is usually set at 3 or 4. IF its not sunny out hole hoping I leave my backlight on so to differentiate the different shades of contrast better also. It’s been working great for me the two or three years I’ve had mine now.

On mine the transducer cable started separating from the connector that plugs into the unit. The sheilding is completely separated and it’s just the internal wires holding it together. Now I taped the two wires together right at the connector and also ziptied the transducer cable to the base of the unit. With those changes it seems like it should last for a long time because there is no more strain at the plug.

I usually run my transducer below the ice. The only problem is pulling it out when a fish is on.It seems to be strong enough to be run shallower in the hole but that’s just my habit. I’ve had mine 4 years now and love it. Only problem is with the battery connectors on the performance pack but I forget to unplug them come spring and the tend to corrode and it powers off when I hole hop.

Appreciate the insight. Will be taking it out this afternoon to try it out.
