Marcum MX7 GPS Issues

I just bought a Marcum MX7 on the lithium shuttle, pulled it out of the box and booted up the gps screen, and the arrow showing my location is “stuck” somewhere n North Dakota, I live in Utah. I’m not getting any satellite reception according to the satellite page. The owners manual says it can take up to an hour for the unit to connect to satellites. I’ve been fishing on 2 different lakes about 6 hours each, as well as leaving the unit powered on at home and at work for hours, and have yet to get any satellite reception. I work in a fishing shop, powered on another MX7/shuttle unit right out of the box and it was almost immediately connected to satellite and was working properly.

I have tried playing with all the settings I can think of. Anybody have any suggestions? I tried contacting Marcum a week ago and have yet to hear anything back.

The graph/flasher works fantastic, but I’d really like to be able to use the GPS feature that I paid extra for. Only reason for upgrading from my Lx7 to the MX7 is for the GPS, and haven’t been able to get it to work.

Has anyone else had a similar issue with their new MX7? Or does anyone have any setting changes to try? I’m open to suggestions.

    Thanks!

The issue is most retailers are out of them. I work in the shop I bought mine from, and our suppliers are out of stock. I’m sure Marcum will take care of it, but I doubt I would have it back in time to use the rest of the season.

Return it for the one you tried at work.

It already sold. I bought the last one we were able to get this season before our supplier ran out of them.

I had to bring in a LX3 TCI for repair, I emailed them on January 1st and they didn’t get back to me until probably January 10th (after 3-4 emails). I sent the unit in and it was done in about 45 minutes (new motor). I am guessing they just have a lot of things going on right now being in the middle of the season and everyone wanting there stuff done now. I do know they have limited staff at the office… which I find somewhat unacceptable in the middle of the one season they really have.

I have a similar issue. After I bought and powered it on the first time the unit picked up GPS signal with no issue. I turned the unit off and went fishing the next day and the unit never got signal the whole 4.5 hours I was out. I thought it was maybe because I never “activated” the Navionics chip. So I did that and the unit still never received GPS signal. It just showed a grey arrow on the map.
after seeing your post I am going to try and return it because I feel there must be an issue with the MX-7 GPS
