I’m interested in picking up a backup flasher and have narrowed it down to the Marcum LX-5 or 5i. I’ve heard from a few owners that the newer i series flasher displays can have fogging issues on bitter cold & windy days vs the older LX series that have the protected display. Have other i series owners noticed any fogging issues with the screen?

Can any owners of the newer i series flashers provide any input?

I have an LX3i and have not noticed this. I always hated how blowing snow accumulated “on the dial” of my old Lx5 and felt that the cover was always trying to get lost.

I borrowed a VX-1i this past weekend up on Red Lake since my LX7 wasnt working. Remember it was super cold that weekend and I didnt have any issues, the unit worked great!!

Have not had any issues yet on my lx5i. Fished outside all morning in blowing, cold, snowy conditions and have had no fogging issues.

I never noticed any issues with my LX5i last year fishing in a blizzard in South Dakota or in any bitter cold trip.

I had inner screen frosting/fogging in my LX7 last year when moving from my fishhouse, a very humid and warm environment to the outside with sunny skies and aroung 10 degrees. I bought a second flasher, a vex FL22, one for in the house and one for outside. The fogging last year rendered the LX7 useless outside. Right now it is in a bin with 5 pounds of rice that I’m hoping will dry it out.
