Love it. The digital read out is awesome I like how you can change different screens its not just a flasher. You can use it for open water and ice

The multiple viewing options are great. Having the graph to give you a bit of history is very beneficial and a simple spinning dial won’t give you that. Most of the time I have the graph, vertical view, and vertical zoom showing.

I had an FLX28 for a short time but there were enough situations where it just didn’t work the way I felt it should. On a mucky lake with a very, very soft bottom that thing was useless. An LX5 had no issues on that stuff and my LX7 is better yet. When you get comfortable with it and understand how to fine tune things the ability to adjust and dial it in is infinite.

I also use it on my boat and it’s great there as well.

I got an LX6S this spring after using my dad’s LX5 for the past couple seasons. I went with the 6 because of its compact size. I move around a lot and the 7 is basically the same thing just bigger. I have yet to be able to use it on the ice yet but I have tinkered with it off docks and from a canoe a few times. I’m really liking it so far. I love how you can have different screen layouts and I find it comes in handy with different types of fishing.

The graph allows you to kind of record the jig “cadence” that you were using that either made the fish rise or leave all together. There is a ton of info… Sometimes too much. Finally got a software update that should take care of some issues.
Cons… Doesn’t fit in a 5-gallon bucket! Pricing gets you close to a soft water unit that does all seasons

Also with the graph you can pick up fish right to the bottom.

I love the lx7 but really dislike the carrying case. It gets wet, isn’t balanced like the Vex black plastic carrier. I bought vex plastic carrier and put my lx7 on it. It’s perfect!

The 7 also does not lend itself well to hole hopping; too much bulk/weight. I usually grab my LX5 if I know I’m going to be actively moving between holes.

Moving to any unit with a zoom feature will exponentially increase your fishing success and enjoyment! The LX-7, FL-28 & Ice 55 are the cream of the flasher crop. Check them out and see what you like best. The LX7 is the only fully digital display of the three.

I don’t remember what it cost me but after trying to Velcro the unit in to no avail, it was worth it. I think I found it on Amazon. A guy on http://www.IceFishingMichigan.com suggested it and I’m glad he did!
