    Hey all,

I took my new Marcum LX7 out with me on my 14 ft aluminum boat today for the first time (actually was the first time I ever took the sonar out on water hard or not too). I noticed the ice ducer making an audible clicking, which almost sounds like an electric arc occurring in the ducer itself. It was audible even with the ducer over the side of the boat submerged under a foot or more of water. As we were getting ready to leave, I touched the bottom of the ducer and felt like I got a bit of a jolt. My question is, is the clicking normal? The unit is less than a year old…just need some input about the issue to before I reach out to Marcum for warranty services…

yes that is normal. it is not working right if you do not hear clicking. if you adjust the ping rate this will also change the amount of clicking you hear.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am a bit relieved to hear it is normal and working correctly.

While I didn’t Mark many fish today, it was nice to be able to see depth and what was going on near the bottom.
