Marcum LX-6s on Vexilar Ultra Pack?

The Marcum cases absolutely blow or suck depending on which you prefer. Either way, I don’t prefer the Marcum case on my LX-6s. I’m wondering if it will fit on a Vexilar UC-100 Ultra Pack. Has anyone tried to see if that might work? Or does anyone have access to both to give it a check for me?

I’ll check and see when I get home how it fits. I’ve mounted the lx7 to a Vex proPack, I ran mine that way for 2 years before selling the lx7 and getting the lx6s. The lx7 would fit in the proPack gimbals OK, but I eventually cut them off and used a marcum gimbal with Ram mounts affixed to the base of the proPack.

I ran the lx6s on ram mounts out of an otter caddy for a while this year, that worked well if you use an Otter. I’ll dig up pictures of that.

I have my LX-7 mounted on a Humminbird ice pack. It’s snug but works amazing, besides having to find a better location for the transducer during transport.

Take note of the cracked screen, that was from the transducer jumping out of its cup during transport and swinging into the screen. The next version will have the transducer cup removed from that location and will probably install it in the back compartment over the battery.

The entire thing is easy to carry and fits into a 5 gallon bucket.

It fits on the ultra pack ok, the gimbal is a smidgen over .5″ too wide, but can be compressed with the thumb screws if wanted. The big issue I see, it can’t be tilted back very far, so the view while standing over it will be problematic.

The Propack is better as far as the tilt ability.

again, what is the problem with Marcum’s pack again? Been using mine for years, never an issue…other than it won’t fit in a 5 gallon bucket?

I don’t see a problem with the 6s. The Lx7 was like riding a bike with ET sitting in the basket.

The Marcum case is great if you sit in one place and don’t move. But if you’re a hole hopper, the plastic case wants to fall out of the red bag when during the move – not a very secure feeling as your hands are full with rods, bait, scoop, and the flasher, which all of a sudden wants to slide out of the bag and drop on to the ground.

gotcha…you can mitigate this issue by either sewing in a strap that secures the shuttle to the case (what I did) or re-position/add additional strap to better balance the weight, or add some additional weight to the back of the case (tape it to the battery) to even it out.

I know adding MORE weight goes against everything an icefisherman tries to do, but it’s better than a cracked screen…any clothing tailor should be able to sew in an additional strap (perhaps a female family member could do it?)

Should Marcum have solved this issue years ago? Yes…but they also tell you to use the grab handle pocket in the case when carrying it…

hold out til next season. Marcum is coming out with a shuttle that fits in a 5 gallon bucket and is also a lithium battery pack as well!

The handle on the new shuttle is adjustable front to back. It’ll allow a variety of center of masses to be handled level.

Barely, they wouldn’t let me take it apart. I just saw it for a single weekend this past January. It worked great for charging my phone!

No, it’s a cousin-brother type deal. Does Marcum even do product testing anymore? hah
