Marcum Lithium Shuttle questions

I recently purchased the Marcum Shuttle and noticed after charging it fully it says 100% but shortly after the power button is left on the battery percentage starts to drop pretty quickly. I’m talking less than 30 min. I noticed this before I even put my Helix unit on it and powered it up.

Anybody else had this issue? Not sure it’s really an issue but it did surprise me a bit. Dropped all the way down to 93% with nothing running other than the shuttles power button being on.

I am also curious why my Helix unit shows a lower percentage of power left than the Shuttle does? I’ll take a pic tonight and show you what I’m talking about. Thanks for any input or comments on this. Overall I really like the Shuttle. Still waiting to get my Helix CHIRP Ice Ducer (If anybody knows where I can pick one up I’d appreciate it. Been on back order for weeks now.)

One last thing… Why doesn’t Marcum send the rubber stopper with the bare shuttle units? Kind of a pain to have to buy one when it should have been included in the first place. IMO…

Probably just assume if a Marcum is being put on it the stopper is already on the ducer cable

Yeah I would agree however if you have the arm on it and it only uses a certain sized stopper then you kind of need that stopper included. Had to order one online since none of the stores I checked had them.

Just guessing here but the sensors are probably calibrated for different batteries. The Shuttle’s for the internal lithium battery, and the Helix for a lead acid battery. Even though lithium and lead acid are both considered 12volts they have different operating ranges.

And as far as the stopper, it is something that could easily be included since they advertise it for all types of units. That’s something that Marcum should be called out on.

I’d give Reeds Sports a call and see if they have the xi 9 1521. They were pretty helpful when I was looking for one. Ended up getting one at Scheels, I don’t think there is one of those in Iowa though.

I had the same problem with the power draining. After emailing customer service, I had to send the unit to Marcum. They have had it for about a week. Hopefully I will get back soon. Customer service said to send it back in the original packaging. I asked them about sending a 5 gallon bucket in the mail and they said that they have had other customers send it through USPS back to them in the 5 gallon bucket. They did send me a prepaid label. So you and I are not the only two that have experienced power drainage in the this unit. Contact Marcum so you can send it in and get it repaired/replaced. Good Luck.

I’m going to speculate. You have electronics based on SLA 12 volt – expected to measure 12+ volts or higher. The lithium shuttle is using phone batteries that will hold 12 volts. It’s not going to display 100% charge, except while fully charged on charger plugged in.

Day after I charged mine up, flip on power and wait for like 5 minutes, I saw the battery gauge go up. Mine went from 94% to 98%. The other one went from 95% to 99%.

Maybe, the battery needs a few discharge and recharge. Unrelated electronics, but a tablet I bought had a uncooperative battery. First few days, it kept charging only to 56%. Until I used it and recharged it. Then it finally took a charge to 100%.

Second trip on one of mine. It’s fully charged and I will check on it, tomorrow and see how much it will drop.

I had a similar experience with the shuttle, I charged it up, attached my vex and hit the lake the next morning, when I turned it on it was dead, took it home recharged it, checked the charge the next day and it was dead, it refused to hold a charge, I returned it for another and have had no problems since, I liked the weight so much I was inspired to get a couple of the Dakota lithiums… life is good…

Mine went from 93% to shutting my unit down within 90 minutes with only my LX6 hooked up. No speculation here. Just a faulty unit.

I love new gadgets especially electronics but I have learned to wait at least one year after they have been introduced to the general public so all the bugs and nuances can get worked out.

I guess it has been like 48 hrs instead of the 24 hrs check back. Anyway the unit that was recharged for second time in now holding at 100%. It did not drop in battery charge capacity.

Mine did the same thing on the second charge. Appears to be good now.
