I just picked up a used ice helix 7 G2 and was going to purchase a lithium battery for it. Since its the ice model it comes with a shuttle already. Thoughts on putting the helix on the Marcum lithium shuttle or just put a lithium battery in the current hummingbird shuttle.

    thanks for the opinions.

    Cheers.

I have a Helix 7 mounted on a Marcum lithium shuttle and am happy with it. The bonus to the shuttle is the built in light, USB ports and lighter weight. It will also fit in a Helix ice case but just barely.

The light is handy for packing up in the dark after fishing but you could use a head lamp. The USB ports help keep the cell phone charged.

It is a personal choice. There are trade-offs to both but either way you will not regret the lithium battery to drop the weight.

I’ve had the same graph on a shuttle 2 seasons. Happy with it. I like the convenience of the built in rod holders too.

I am looking at using a 12v emergency jump starter as a power source. It weighs appx 1 lb without jumper cables – so a little lighter than the Dakota battery. Big question is whether it can run my HB all day. I am borrowing a friend’s unit to run a test.
