I’m trying to decide between a couple of Marcum underwater cameras. Either the Recon 5 or the VS485C. From what I can tell you’re basically trading off screen size for portability. Curious what experience people have with either and what their recommendation would be.
I don’t have any experience with a Recon, but I’ve owned every other Marcum camera. If portability is a requirement, then obviously the Recon is the best bet…personally, I think screen size is most important, so I would buy the biggest screen I could afford…
I also like the heavier camera head of the non-recon cameras, if you have 20’+ of camera cable in the water column the heavier camera will stay more stable resulting in a better image imo…
If you can afford it, I would look for a used VS825SD…
I have a Recon 5+ and the Lx-9. Both have a place and I agree with Joe ^.
