Drove by Newville yesterday, and wide open. looks like they’re rebuilding the Anchor Inn. No place better to grab a burger and drink when taking a break from yanking in the eyeballs. so who will be the first to some current pics on here??

Thank you.Went through there today. There were a few large open areas in town, I stopped and tossed some jigs/plastic around for a bit. I lot of ice sheets/chunks floating around. North and south of town was pretty locked up yet, but I doesn’t look like it will be for long.

I checked out river today around 1pm from K-Mart to VFW. Carpers are opening the river from K-mart to first river bend. 106 bridge still locked up as well as Bark River area. Both areas should be open by Thursday. Downtown Fort open for shore anglers all the way to end of the wall east of Robert Street bridge. VFW area locked up tight. Downtown launch open and ready for your prop. lol
March 16, 2015 at 7:09 am #1523779Saturday afternoon there was still 2 guys ice fishing at the mouth of the Bark River but it does look like there’s plenty of shore spots open to me and you probably won’t even have to get your feet muddy. Nice fish JW. I’ve still been ice fishing and had a fresh meal of gills last night caught yesterday morning.
March 21, 2015 at 8:20 am #1525556With the great forecast for yesterday, decided to go out for the maiden Rock voyage of the year with great expectations. And the weather did not disappoint, but the bite sure did. Fished from the VFW all the way down to the head of the lake, and not even a single bite. Never saw a fish caught by others either. Talked to two boats, and no bites for them.
DNR was checking their fyke nets and yakked with them for a bit. None of the nets had even a single walleye in them. Lots of pike, including some in the upper 30’s. with water temps in 38 to 40.5 range, not sure what to make of it all. Keep at it, I guess. Can’t catch ’em from the couch.March 21, 2015 at 10:18 am #1525584Fished from shore by the Bark river yesterday. Caught or snagged about a dozen sheepshead. No other fish caught. Saw a few carp and dogfish caught by others. Saw about 7-8 boats by the 106 bridge.
March 23, 2015 at 10:33 am #1526221So I’m sitting at home on Sunday afternoon, checking out IDO reports, and thinking I should have gone fishing today, with FW snoozing and no grandkids over. It was like ESP..cell phone rings, and Randy calling to see if I want to join him on the Rock. Thanks Randy! After a nano-second of giving it some thought, told him I’d meet him at the bypass launch in 45 minutes. He was just warming the engine up when I pulled in. So we fished from 4pm to 7pm up from the bypass, with one nice eye stuck by Randy and several more hits and misses, much better than the humble pie I ate on Friday, but our expectations were higher. Water temp rose to 44 degrees, which was helpful in keeping our rod guides from staying iced up. He’s got the pic.
Bonus of the day was chatting with JP….good to see you Jeff.March 23, 2015 at 10:51 am #1526233As fast as the first three hits came on a pink blade, I thought we had them dialed in. Fish were there, I just have to figure out how to manage that jinx in the back of the boat had a good time ed

It was great to see you and Randy also. Better days ahead.
March 26, 2015 at 5:59 pm #1527608Another slow day for this guy. Fished up from the bypass from 10 till 3, and again, not a single hit. Getting a reputation…JINX….that’s going to take some doing to break. But, with that said, can’t catch ’em from the couch. Water temps at 41 degrees.

March 28, 2015 at 9:12 am #1528183Thanks Jeff. Or maybe I can just tie up to your boat and re-learn the river. good luck.
