March Madness

I’m a huge fan of the tournament. I haven’t spent a ton of time watching college basketball this year but I’ll catch as much of the tournament as I can.

Seems like the #1 seeds are heavily favored to make it to the final four but Tom Izzo can never be ruled out in the tournament. St John’s is also a 2 seed with some steam.

Who you got making it the final 4 and winning it? Any big upsets? I’m rooting for Creighton to make a bit of a run and I always root for the B10 squads.

    Who ya got!?

Like you, I don’t get a chance to watch as much basketball as I wish I could. In college we’d host 4 straight days of “March Madness” parties at our place with Multiple TVs, kegs, and shenanigans to celebrate. Those were the good ole’ days…from what I remember.

I obviously root for the Badgers. Beyond them, I like to root for underdogs and busted brackets for the most part. Drake is a cool story with x4 of their starters being D2 transfers from last season who moved with their coach en route to a 30-3 record. If nothing else, that story shows how small the talent differences are between some of the D1 mid majors and successful D2 programs.

After all the talk of UNC being undeserving of getting any sort of bid, they dominated in that play-in game earlier this week. It’d be fun to see them go on a nice run now proving all the talking heads on ESPN “wrong”

    1. Auburn /2. St.John’s // 1.Duke /2.Tennessee with Auburn beating Duke in the final.

I do have North Carolina making a run to the Sweet 16 where they get beat by Izzo.

Seems like a solid group. Florida has a lot of steam, too.

I’m not a big basketball guy by any means but the tournament games are great entertainment. I was fortunate enough to tune in to the end of the Alabama State game. What a way to kick things off. I’m a sucker for a Cinderella team every year. Hopefully they can give Auburn all that they can handle.

Thursday/Friday are two of the best days of the year! I have Auburn, Florida, Houston, and Bama in the final four. Some upsets are UNC in the elite 8 and Marquette over Michigan State. Bama needs Grant Nelson to be healthy starting next weekend. I wish Memphis was fully healthy as they would’ve been a team I had making a run. I think Florida is the best team in the country. Really curious to see Tennessee play Houston if they both get there. Also have Zona beating Duke in Sweet 16. Probably a bad move but makes it fun.

Hope your right. I’m far from a basketball guy either but my boss talked me into joining a group and filling out a bracket and I picked them to go all the way.

Duke beating Maryland in an old ACC matchup in the final. Duke vs Houston and Michigan St. vs Maryland on the other side of the Final 4.

I watched like 3 Gophers games this year, so I’m very well prepared for the tourney. Figured the SEC was setup for disappointment with a ridiculous amount of teams making it. And the Big 10 powers slipped up in the Big 10 tourney, and will have their vengeance now while continuing the Big 10 run started with back to back football Natty’s.

Wild game. Cannot believe they only won by 2. Clemson looked awful in the first half.

Houston and Florida get a tough second round with Zags and UConn. Assuming both of the latter win.

It’s so sad the Gophers never even make the tournament. And every year Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, heck even Montana does. Just blows me away, not even sure how that is possible. Year after year.

I forgot to mention Nebraska. Even Nebraska made the tournament.

My pick this year would be Florida and Duke in the finals, with Florida winning it all.

The Huskers women made it…the men choked down the stretch and didn’t. A lot of people want to see Hoiberg gone. He hasn’t done much and has more money and better facilities than almost any school in the country.

Used to be a huge College B ball fan back in the early/mid 80s…St Johns with Chris Mullin, Georgetown with Ewing, Memphis State with Keith Lee…could go on and on…those were the days.

Haven’t watched 10 seconds of college basketball in the past 10 years I bet..

I meant Omaha. At least they had a team to represent the state.

Interesting on Hoiberg though. He was a good player, but maybe not coach.

Pretty good tourney so far. B10 was 8-0 in the first round which apparently has never happened. Purdue looks really good right now as does Maryland.

With all this talk about the SEC it seems like the B10 is holding its own.

Good news for Gophers fans. Very soon the NCAA will take the sack of cash offered and make it a 134 team tourney. At that point the Gophers will have a 50 / 50 chance of making the field according to Fanduel.

Colorado State just missed the big upset over Maryland.

Rumor has it the Gophers have the CSU coach tied up. I’d be all for that.

That was a big time shot by Queen on Maryland for the win. Very good game almost feel bad for Co. St.

But the Crab Five is moving on…

Just a great finish. Didn’t expect the big man to make a shot like that.

I would take Colorado State Coach for the Gophers. Sounds like he might bring some of his players too. Would be a huge win for the program and make them at least exciting going into next year.

Why? The Huskers have spent hundreds of millions of their basketball facilities and Hoiberg can’t get a team to the tourney. They also have a massive NIL collective. They’ve underachieved with him as coach.

Hoiberg has been a surprising disappointment at Nebraska, given his success at Iowa State. But it seems like Nebraska has a knack for hiring the right guys on paper (Scott Frost, Matt Rhule, Tim Miles) and having it not work out for some reason.

Gophers signed Nico Medved, which sounds like a great hire for them given the state of things for Gopher B-Ball. Surely helped he is one of us, a U grad and started his coaching career in St. Paul at Macalester.

As for the Tourney, going to need everything to fall my way the rest of the way to land in the $. But I’m already + in the numbers board I’m in.

I wouldn’t throw Rhule in that category but the rest have been swings and misses. Hoiberg is a head scratcher.
