Curious what sizes people prefer. Feels like 1/8 would be to light to cast very far. 1/4?

1/8 is preffered and should be thrown on a 7ft medium light or light spinning rod. In order to throw it, you almost have to use 6 or 8 pound braided line with a 5 or 6 foot flourocarbon leader.

That maribou fishes best on a steady, slow retrieve just off the bottom. Anything heavier than an 1/8 forces you to fish too fast.

Perfect thanks Mike! Great episode Sunday. Look forward to seeing if I can push my personal best from 19.75″ in Ontario this year to 20″+

1/16th and 1/8th ounce are the sizes I use the most. And yes they’re a pain to cast! With the right setup, and the fact that marabou soaks up and holds some water that adds needed weigh when it comes time to make the cast, you can get some pretty good distance on even the 1/16th oz.

Thanks guys – That episode got my wheels turning. I’ve used everything from Pop-X to Senkos Wacky to Swimbaits with success probably due to low pressure but I may have a shot at a tank with one of these

Look up Jimmy D’s river bugs… They are awesome.. 3/32 and 1/8 are all I have used. Olive and Black but that is just my preference. Bass cannot stand it sometimes.
