Set 20 taps on 10 sugar maples last Monday, just before the warming spell started in SE WI. They dripped out a bit the first 3 days, but took off pretty good on Friday.

My old man tapped the trees at his place and my uncles, I’ll be putting them in my trees today. He ended up getting a gallon or so over the weekend. Should start really flowing this week here in Alexandria.

The crews who run syrup in and around the Lake City & Wabasha area were out tapping this weekend. I asked my neighbor who runs a lot of taps what his predictions were, and he said he anticipated a fast start to the season with good quantities flowing this week already based on what he has seen.

Tapped 27 today after work. Even with below freezing temps 2 taps started flowing right away.

Tapped 125 trees Saturday in Washburn County WI. Got about 10 gallons of sap that day, guessing it’s running well today.

Which direction from Spooner? Just curious. Would love to buy some from you. Our cabin is in Trego and it would be neat to have something made local.
