Do I need a map chip in each unit to have a detailed map, or can I have a chip in 1 unit and it will share with the other units connect thru the structure scan box?

It will share if you have them linked together. I dont think bith being tied to structurescan works for sharing.

1 chip linked through the structure scan box is all you need. I do this with mine. Works great.
It also shares waypoints.
