Man Caves

Thanks guys, glad you like it. I didn’t have any plans to go off of, but just used some basic measurements and angles from a patio chair.

The 6×6’s worked awesome, and turned out cooler than I ever thought they would. They’re $2 a foot at Home Depot.

I beveled the long edges first on the table saw, then I sheared wood off the edges with a hatchet.

After that I started with a belt sander to soften the edges but found it took too long and was difficult to get into the deeper groves.

I changed gears and used a sandpaper flap on a grinder instead. It worked 10 times faster and turned out a better look.

Then I used 10″ power lags (pre-drilled) to connect the logs.

The seat and back rest are reclaimed pallets.

It cost about $75 to make. The homemade cushions will cost more than that lol

You probably spent more on beer while chiseling those timbers. smash

Can a guy have a “love seat” in a man cave? It that allowed?
    Looking for a ruling here…

Added a mancave to the garage when I built it a couple years ago. Timbers are from a storm we had on the acreage 10 years ago. Galvanized metal came off a roof on the brooder house, and I put new metal on the brooder house. The ceiling material is re-purposed 2×12 dock planks from West Okoboji. The dogs have free reign to come an go as they need. Infloor Hrdronic heat and Air and heat from the mini split. Love it..

What did you use for wood on the walls above the tin?

Thank you. Actually, it is a relatively inexpensive 1/4 inch luan plywood paneling from Menards. (There was OSB underneath) Pretty nice stuff actually that gave me the look I wanted. The rafters and ridge beam are solid ash from the storm where we lost 66 trees from our grove. The ridge beam is 6 x 16. The rafters 4×6.

I’ve been working on a log loveseat for the mancave. It’s almost done, just need to seal it with some poly, and momma is sewing up some cushions for it.

I used square 6×6 timbers and chiseled them down to look like a rough log.

Did you leave a flat spot to rest your beer on?

The arm rests are flat on top for a beer, but I’ve been contemplating putting recessed stainless holders in it, just like a boat?

A hole saw and a chisel should do the trick.

Got around to making the barn door and hanging it yesterday. Turned out pretty neat. Also hung the TV’s up. Cool watching the Packers and the WS at the same time. Somehow I missed the 7th inning boobies though mrgreen

Thanks Rodwork, it’s almost complete peace

Just have to touch up paint in a couple spots and trim the exterior.
