Looking to head out of Malmo Friday afternoon and was wondering if the ice is thick enough for a SxS? Thanks in advance.

Probably, but I would call first…Lybacks or Hunter Winfields or Chapmans although the latter two are in Isle bay. Reports have been some have been going out, but if you’re coming from some distance…call ahead.

In general there are about 7-10″ in Malmo Bay. As always there will most likely be a pressure ridge that runs along the north shore so I would reccommend giving Castaways a call to make sure current conditions before you head up.

Will is spot on as always!! We were there Sunday and we went out by Barancles. There is a crack on the North end about 2 feet wide then that runs the whole North end from what I could tell. It refroze but can easily open up again so as Will stated call to get info or even better yet get a group to go. We did make it out to the North End Flats and didn’t see anything less than 7″ the whole way. Warmer temps is going to make the ice sheet expand so it’s a day to day deal for sure.
