Was calling around trying to find available cabins and the owner of another resort recommend this place and they have some availability.

Anyone ever been to Malgeorge’s Elephant Lake Resort and/or fished Elephant lake? Looking for reviews on both the resort and lake. All help appreciated.

I have snowmobiled out of there numerous times. Never fished there or visited outside of winter.
Very cool place, way off the beaten path. The owners are very nice and their food and bar are good.
I wish I could comment on their fishing. You are also close to Pelican and Kab among others so there are options. I would fish in the river as well. Looks fishy. Elephant could be a good fishing lake if the pressure isnt too great. Its not a very big lake.

Though I’ve never stayed at Melgeorge’s, I’ve dined there and fished a few lakes in the area including Elephant. I’d second Suzuki’s recommendation of the bar/restaurant, it is very good. I mainly bass fish and Elephant is full of smallies. The lake does get some pressure but the fishing was good.

I’ve fished Elephant on many occasions. There are some very nice Smallies in that lake, as well as big Crappies and Blue Gills. There was a special regulation for Northerns on that lake for quite a few years, however I don’t know what effect that had on the population. I never tried for Walleyes so nothing to report on that front. You also have Blackduck right across the road, and that is a very good lake too. My PB Smallmouth came out of Blackduck (21 inches).

It’s a great area with many good lakes.

Yes, the men’s (family) yearly retreat has been held there for probably close to a decade. I have been to 3-4 of them. It’s a very nice resort. I never had great success fishing there for some reason. Every year I went they cursed me.

Yes, it’s very nice. Secluded and small. Above average for Crappies and Smallies. Some real giants too.

Blackduck and Pelican as a backup if fishing is slow.
