This Autochart Live is simply amazing. Wish I had it years ago.

Look at the difference between the map on the chip vs the one I made on a spot I like to fish. What a difference. Just learned today that there is an extra 32 foot hole in that area that I had no ideA about. Not to mention the 28 foot hole

looks like it may only be available as a feature with some of the fancier units. Very cool though! Game Changer

The Helix G2N are the “middle ground” units I think. Not the flagship units from HB.

I have it on my 3 year old Helix 10 with just GPS and standard fish finder(no si or di). Haven’t really used it much though, I found you really need the zero lines card if you want to do a decent number of spots.

It is an exceptional product if you fish lakes without 1″ contour maps. I may just boat/map all summer. Next ice season will be a whole new game for me.

I believe James touched on this with his 1st program this season.

Can you map any water with it? I’m thinking of getting the zero lines chip. I want to map some areas in a smaller river near my house that obviously isn’t on map chips and barely shows up as water on the gps map. Just wondering if this kind of thing is possible? Also things like private ponds?

Far as I know if you can float over it you can map it.

Thanks. I have a helix 7 G2 and it has auto chart live. Was just reading up on it and it says it has 8 hours of storage space built in so I’ll start with that see how it works before I buy the chip.

You can do the same with Lowrance HDS gen3 and Navionics Sonar Chart Live. It’s really amazing what you can do with these newer units. What’s next?

I tried it out today and it’s awesome. Your right it maps anywhere you go even if the chart built in doesn’t recognize the water your on. All you need to do is turn on auto chart and drive over the area you want to map! I’m definitely getting the zero lines card I can see I’ll be using this feature a lot.

I have never tried to map anything, but it looks great. Does anyone know what the differences are between each manufacturer to be able to self map? Are all the brands self made maps on par with one another? It would be nice if there could be an unbiased write up on them, but we know that is doubtful. grin I will have to try this out on a few spots.

Just tried for the 1st time this weekend. I have humminbird helix 7 G2 and it came with auto chart. All I did was went out on the lake, went into menu and turned on auto chart and drove around at about 4 to 5mph. I’m not saying the map is perfect but it was really easy and is way more than I had before since no map existed of this lake.

Instead of them going out and making the lake maps. We do it for them. I’m sure the data is collected by them some how. Great idea. Haven’t used mine yet

Humminbird does not collect the data.
    Whatever you map is YOURS.

Bird actually uses this in their marketing. Goes something like this: You can have your own private map of your secret spot. You’ll catch more fish and be cooler than your buddy that doesn’t have Autochart devil

I’m looking forward to trying this out when I get the season going.

Great now I need to buy a new unit. There are multiple uncharted lakes that I fish.

This. You can chart all sorts of small lakes without even stepping foot in a boat. Just cast it out and reel it in.

That’s the somewhat cheaper, castable T-pod version. ($130) They also make two T-Box versions with a standard transducer. One with a more permanent mount (SP200, $150) and a “portable” version (SP300, $200) with a suction cup mount that also comes with a 12v battery, charger, and a portable box for the works.

I’m looking at picking up the SP200 and then grabbing just the suction mount part for $12. I’d like to be able to have it on my own boat, but want to be able to stick it my friend’s boat at the cabin, rental boats, etc.

If you use the Zero lines card, can I take that in a buddy’s boat and it will be like the Lakemaster card where he can read it?

Yes and no. It can be read straight across if his graph is equipped with the Autochart live function as well. If his graph doesn’t have this feature you must first convert the file using the Autochart or Autochart Pro PC programs. By converting the files they will act just like any other map chip.

Just a side note if you want to be able to edit your maps that you make, i.e. delete bad points, you will also need one of the PC programs. I have run into this problem with mine since I have forgotten to turn off the recording a couple of times and ran down the lake with it on and lost bottom while playing in the boat. Now I can’t delete those bad points without buying the computer program. The computer programs do come with the zero lines card as well so it you are looking at buying just the card it is worth the extra money to just buy the program along with it.
