Well we didn’t hit 8″ total but we got close. Here is the rain gage this morning. This was over the previous 48 or so Hrs. Nice to see little rain in the forecast over the next week or so for this area. Not sure we could handle much more right now.

May 13, 2022 at 12:09 pm #2124243Your lawn is looking green!
Its really not – But I’m working on it. Put some weed and feed on it this morning. Going to spot spray some weeds after work and then Fertilize early next week. Got a neighbor who I think is a weed Farmers so its a uphill battle

The best thing you could do would be to go to Mills and get 10-10-10. That is a long lasting fertilizer. You cannot get it in most places but since they cater to farmers they still sell it. The typical stuff wears down too fast and then you need to reapply but that is typically when its the worst time to fertilize since its so hot and dry.

Do you think a spray Weed and Feed ( The kind you look to a garden hose ) followed by a broadcast spreading of a lawn fertilizer a week or so later is to much? Others I asked said they did not think it was. I had one of the bottles laying around and thought I’d get it down this morning while we have some dry weather on the way. More for the weeds than the Feed. I had plans to fertilize one day next week. I wanted to treat the weeds prior to fertilizing.
If this is to much, How soon do you think I should fertilize? want to do so before the temps start getting to warm.May 13, 2022 at 3:01 pm #2124293I’m no lawn expert but I used a hand pump sprayer this morning after it dried up to kill weeds. If your lawn is that full of weeds your sprayer should work with weed be gone or trimex.
If your going to use that 10-10-10 you should do that within 24 hours of rain or water right away. I was told by a big time farmer the nitrogen in that 10-10-10 needs to get in the ground within that 24 hour span or you lose the value. I also think Menards sells it but could be wrong.
I just mowed my lawn. I use the 10-10-10 all the time. Also used the miliganite, my understanding is golf courses use it for there greens??

To be clear, personally I’d do a plain weed killer then fertilize!

Some of my neighbors definitely killed significant portions of theirs. Not because of fertilizer though. Because they scalp it when they mow it and the drought killed it last season. When you cut it short and then never water it…
