Magnum 111 plus help

I recently purchased an older Magnum 111 plus that wasn’t running. It just needed new carb gaskets and a cleaning, and I got it up and running. But now that I’m trying to use it on the ice, I can’t get it to really work as intended. I’ll sit at full throttle for a few minutes, but I can’t cut through more than a half inch of ice.

I purchased new old stock chipper blades (my auger is 7 1/4), and they are plenty sharp. I’ve installed the blade like how I’ve seen in photos, with the blade on top of the auger, curled down towards the ice.

If you have experience with these, I would appreciate any advice! How should the blade be installed on the auger? Is there anything else that could be causing this? Thanks.

Take a picture and post that may help us see what’s going on.

Sorry for the late response, here’s what I did. Is there something transmission wise that I should check as well?

Your point needs to be sharpened.

Without a sharp point you can’t get the blades to the ice.

Take a look at a new spade chipper drill bit for ideas.

I run a Magnum 49cc and have for years. Every years I clean up my blades and point with a block of wood and a some 120/150 grit sandpaper, they shine like new.
