Maggots vs Worm for Stocked Rainbow Trout Fishing

    What has performed better for you? best method to fish them from a boat?

    Thunder bugs work really well till about the 4th of July then switch to worms. I row troll them with a bobber set as deep as you can so you can cast yet. I’ll row about 50’ and then stop the boat and let the bug flutter down using a truturn hook.

    FWIW, maggots never produced well for me ice fishing, waxies were what they want.

    We did pretty good with Berkley trout nuggets on stocked trout. Corn was 2nd best. Couldn’t buy a bite on worms or small minnows. This was in suburban Chicago a good 20yrs ago or so.
