Thought I’d bring a bit of life back to this thread. Due to very busy schedule, haven’t been out a whole bunch in recent weeks, but made some time to take my 9 yr. old grandson, who’s more of a fishingmaniac than I, out for some pannies. This lake is known for decent sized gills, and good action, and it didn’t dissappoint on Saturday. We got started fishing about 9:30 am, in dead calm water, soaking texas reds in and just otside the weeds, and got one here and one there. Moved around, and pecked away at a few here and there, mostly nice gills in the 7.5 to 8.5 inch range, with a few throwbacks, and a few white bass mixed in. Once the wind picked up after noon, the action was fairly steady. We had to quit pannie fishing, for fear of a full cooler, and called it quits with 20 eaters for that nights fish fry. Dragged live bait for pike for an hour or so after that, and called it a day at 4, to go home, clean ’em up, and eat ’em up. The kid was out like a light not long after hitting the sack, and so was I.
Water temps were tween 68 to 70 degrees. Gill action ought to be picking up in the coming weeks, if history repeats itself, and 9’s to 10’s are not that uncommon.
