Macrum lx-7 problem

I purchased an lx-7 before this years ice season. It is my spare(friends use it) I have the lx-9. The lx-7 has been used maybe 10 times all year. The last two trips out it has been freezing about every two minutes to the point where you have to pull the battery to get the screen to come off. I dont think this should be a battery issue. It seems like it works for the first 20 minutes or so then starts freezing over and over. Anyone else experience this problem? I havent spoke with marcum yet. Im thinking it could be the transducer but not 100% sure. Any input is welcome.

Just curious… do you have the latest firmware update installed in the LX-7?

Welcome to the digital age. Don’t waste your time with Marcum. My 9 has been sent in twice. Guess what? There is nothing wrong with it. You can run it all day in demo and not freeze. My expert advice is to enjoy the exercise you get from bending over to unplug and plug the battery connectors back on. But seriously it is probably loose battery connections from what I can tell. Try to pinch them tighter might get a couple trips out of it before they wiggle themselves loose. Mine has done it a lot less but not a permanent fix. Pretty nice unit when it doesn’t freeze randomly.

Tedroost-my lx-7 came with one of the connectors kinda jacked up it wouldnt stay on the battery,i had to use pliers to bend it back in place, but still had 0 issues with it when it was first being used.

I am also guessing it might be a connection somewhere… I have had an lx-7 for three years and have not had one problem with it… I might have jinxed myself by saying that but if the firmware is up to date, I am guessing a connection problem. The software seems solid.

Love my LX7 never had that issue, but Marcum’s service top notch. Give them a call & they will fix you up!

I forgot to mention that if the connections appear to be ok, I would contact Marcum and ask if they have heard of this problem.. It sounds like it could be a known issue since Tedroost also has the issue, they may already have a fix for this…?

2 plus year old lx7 don’t have issues. It’s best to not do any updates. I’m still running 3.0 or something.
