    Hi All,

New to the trolling world. My dad just gifted me his old trolling gear and has 4 accudepth combos with 7’6″ to 8″ ML rods. And 5 of his Lake Michigan rods which are also accuddpth rods that are M 8′ to 8’6″. Would the ML rods be too light for pulling boards with crawler harness or crank baits?

I was looking to buy new rods if these will not work and was wondering what you all like for trolling rods. Medium or Medium Light?

I was looking at the okuma deadeye telescopic rods, not sure on the action i would need for boards.

    Thank you,

Depends on the board size, but M is my go to when pulling boards.

I use the Cabelas 8’6″ telescopic planer board rods. I only troll for walleyes.

On smaller inland waters, I think the ML’s would work just fine. On bigger waters with bigger seas go with the M’s.
