Has anyone done the upgrade to their LX-7 to get the LX-9 camera capabilities ? If so how do you like it. I’m going to get a new camera this year and trying to decide which way to go.
I did. Works great for the way I fish. I only use the camera a few times a year and leave it disconnected and separate from the head unit. In less than two minutes, it can be in service with ease.I like the “heads up display” allowing you to use the camera and flasher together.
I bought the LX-9 for the purpose of teaching the use of plastics while icefishing and the recording feature for the camera. I can’t speak to the upgrade from the 7 to 9, but will tell you it was the best investment I ever made in icefishing next to a power auger.
Because I use a few different features, I would love to see the addition of 2 or 3 user-programmable buttons for screen configurations. The menu is user friendly and very easy to scroll through. I’m just always in such a hurry that saving a few steps would be a major convenience to me.
I put some effort into giving a honest review of the 9 when I got it, and added some videos from the camera during less than desirable conditions. One of the vids I added here was the camera running through sun set in about 16 fow on a wing dam (mississippi rvr P7) until i needed a headlamp to see what I was doing top-side. If you do a search back, I’m sure you’ll find them.
As mentioned above, detaching the camera during hole hopping is a big weight reduction. The camera in the pouch is good for counter balancing the weight, but making it lighter during hopping around is a plus
