is it just me not knowing how to run it or is it a common thing for the lx7 to only pick up things from 3 feet deep and down? one of our main lakes here in Utah is an average depth of 8 feet and its a low water year for it so the average is 4-5 feet and i can only pick up my bait or fish from 3 feet deep and deeper. my dad has a ice 55 and his will pick tings up from 6″ to a foot down. any help would be appreciated!!

    Thanks,

What degree to you have your transducer set on? Try 20 degrees.

Was told that manual said to run in open water mode for shallow water

I have the same issue with my LX7, I fish alot in 6fow and can only see my lure in the bottom 2′ or so, I emailed Marcum last year and here is their exact response:

    3 things to try—
When in shallow water, always have your ducer as high in the hole as you can get it, near the water line, at the surface, nowhere near the bottom of the ice.
Try experimenting with different color palettes
Try using it in open water mode

It helped me a little but the main thing is to raise your ducer as high as possible in your hole, mine is just under the surface of the water when shallow water fishing. Hope that helps.

You can also adjust your ‘Max Ping Rate’. You can turn it down to the lowest setting and this should help out quite a bit.

I fish a “Slough” a lot where the water is 3-5′ deep and we always run the transducer just so it’s barely in the water and run in “open water mode” and about 18″ is the best I’ve gotten picking up my jig. I’ll have to try messing with the ping setting. Also if the water isn’t to dingy we sight fish those gills that are just under the ice.
